Connor Has A Mole!
Period 3 Habits Of Mind

#1 Persisting
Persistence is following through with what you say and keeping to something without deterring from it. Persistence is also not just staying to a problem but also figuring out what to do with that problem. Another thing persistence is an example of is being able to be flexible and being able to deal with a problem in a multitude of ways.

"I will persist until I succeed. Always will I take another step. If that is of no avail I will take another, and yet another. In truth, one step at a time is not too difficult...I know that small attempts, repeated, will complete any undertaking. "

-Og Mandino

#2 Managing Impulsivity
Managing impulsivity is thinking before acting. It is when you thoroughly think through a problem before jumping in. When you manage impulsivity, you are someone who decides to put off what you are inclined to do and instead do what is most beneficial in the long run to you and those around you. People who manage impulsivity don't necessarily take the easier path, or the road more taken; but rather take the road less traveled by.

"I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; the hardest victory is the victory over self. "

#3 Listening & Understanding With Empath
Listening with understanding and empathy-listening to something with sympathy or feeling.

The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right place but to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment. -Dorothy Nevil
#4 Thinking Flexibly
Thinking Flexibly-"rewiring" your mind to think differently than you usually do. Finding new or different ways to think.

No one can make you change. No one can stop you from changing. No one really knows how you must change. Not even you. Not until you start. -Dr. David Viscott (author and psychologist)

#5 Thinking About Thinking(Metacognition)
Metacognition is the word we use to describe the act of thinking about our thinking. Meta mening self and congntion meaning thinking. So metacogntion becomes thinking about our thinking.

Successful people actively monitor their own thinking. They install plans of actions in their minds and monitor them as they are enacted. When they finish a task they reflect back on it and evaluate how well their thinking strategies served them.

The whole, though it be long, stands almost complete and finished in my mind so that I can survey it at a glance. Nor do I hear in my imagination the parts successively, but I hear them, as it were, all at once. What delight this is I cannot tell!
-Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

#6 Striving For Accuracy
Successful people who strive for accuracy take time to check their product. They desire and value craftsmanship! They take pride in their work.

Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected.
-Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer
#7 Questioning & Posing Problems
Questioning and posing problems is when you asses what you need and what you have or how you can fix a problem. Thomas Edison used this skill to perfect his first versions of the light bulb.

The wise man doesn't give the right answers, he poses the right questions.
-Claude Levi-Strauss, businessman

#8 Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations
Using past knowledge is when you remember something from a past situation and applying it in the present. Military and gaming strategists use this skill to gain the upper hand if the opposition is predictable.

#9 Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision
Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision:
People who don't use this when they speak usually talk like "They don't know" or "Everybody has one". They use nonspecific words to describe something. By using #9 you can communicate with people better without needing to repeat yourself.

Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something.

#10 Gathering Data Through All Senses
Gathering Data Through all Senses:
By using all your senses you can achieve a intellect of cross-information. When you use your senses you learn that form of activity and can access it later when you need it. The people who are more open to doing things through different sensors will be have more experience in a challenge.

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
-Berthold Auerbach

#11 Creating, Imagining, Innovating
Creating,Imagining, and Innovating. This means trying or creating a new and different way or idea of doing something. Being original. Someone who might use this is an author who is writing a new story. or maybe a building or fashion designer.

Imagination is more important than knowledge.

#12 Responding with Wonderment and Awe
Responding with wonder and awe.
This means having good time figuring something out. Finding the world AMAZING! Being curious and stunned by the rare occurrences in the world. Someone who might use this habit is a family in another country on vacation.

It's kind of fun to do the impossible.
-Walt Disney

#13 Taking Responsible Risks
The 13th habit of mind is taking responsible risks. This one is very important. For example, you don't want to jump off a bridge (unless it's a little bridge). But you also don't want to never take any risks at all. This one ties in with what Mr. A has been saying about jumping in or just dipping your toes in.

Why not go out on a limb? Isn't that where the fruit is?
-Frank Scully

#14 Finding Humor
The 14th habit of mind is about finding humor. This one (I think, at least) is especially easy. You can't go around being serious all the time and still have fun. This one is a little bit like the last one. You have to have fun! It's super important. But you have to make sure you don't risk too much (Taking responsible risks). Still, seriously, you need to follow this one.

The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter.
-Mark Twain

#15 Thinking Interdependently
Thinking Interdependently is working together in a group and learning from others. Team Work!

I desire that there be as many different persons in the world as possible; I would have each one be very careful to find out and preserve his own way.
-Henry David Thoreau

#16 Remaining Open to Continuous Learning
Admitting you don't know something so you can learn it and resist giving up.

I desire that there be as many different persons in the world as possible; I would have each one be very careful to find out and preserve his own way.
-Henry David Thoreau

#17 Living in the Moment
This means that instead of tracking what will happen based on your decision, you make the decision right at the moment. A lot of teenagers and kids make these "in the moment" decisions. One example would be if somebody asked if you wanted to go bungee jumping, instead of thinking about it, you just go with the flow and say yes.

"Always use quotes from me and give me credit as long as it is meaningful to you."- Mr. Agamenoni

#18 Using Prime Numbers
Every day, you use numbers such as 2,4,6,1,3,5. For odd reasons that you may not understand, using prime numbers will make you successful. People like Jeff Agamenoni use prime numbers all the time and he is successful.......well, semi-successful.

" I have used prime numbers my whole life and look at me. I am successful."- Mr. Agamenoni

#19 Not Caring What Other People Think About You
Stop focusing on the negative you will live a better life. Strive to get stronger and stop trying to change the unchangeable.

Stop caring so much about what other people think of you.
-Mr. Agamenoni
